We were kindly invited to the launch of The Riverside which has just opened in Tuckton. The Riverside (which was originally the Harvester) has been refurbished and is now a premium country pub.
Check out their lush decor, very warm and welcoming with touches of burnt orange and turquoise with lots of lovely copper accessories. Love their new style!
This is the main restaurant which is very well presented. They now have a large side area sectioned off with glass sliding doors that they can use for private events (see below). This is a great addition to the venue being able to host your event separately to the to the rest of the public, making it extra special.
It was raining the evening we visited so we didn’t get to experience the outdoor seating area which looks beautiful overlooking the river. This newly refurbished area makes The Riverside a perfect venue for dry/sunny days.
After being seated we were offered some cocktail to try. We ordered a Mai Tai which is a tropical and fruity rum-based cocktail. It was lush! I absolutely love these and it didn’t disappoint!
To start we had scallops with chorizo
Lobster and King Prawn Pot in Devon crab creme fraiche with a toasted ciabatta bread – A-MAZING!
Our husbands had Pan-Fried British Venison with beef & bone marrow bomb, squash dauphinoise, green beans, toasted pine nuts and Port jus
Elle and I had Pan-Fried Seabass Fillets with Parmentier potatoes, pancetta, olives, spinach and white wine veloute. I love how this was presented and it tasted as good as it looks!
No one else had any room left but I couldn’t resist this………..
I’ve ALWAYS got the room for a CHOCOLATE BROWNIE and I have to say, this is one of the gooiest I’ve ever had, I can’t wait to go back for some more!!
The staff were lovely, a little stressed with the opening which was to be expected, but very polite especially when a few things were taking longer than they’d expected.
We had a fab night with lots of great food and quite a few drinks, needless to say, I wasn’t feeling my best on the school run the next morning! I had to drag Elle to the Hiker Café at Hengistbury for a huge fry-up 😉 Haha!
Thanks for having us! See you again very soon…
